Financial aid experts from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and other institutions will provide free help for college-bound students applying for financial aid. College Goal Wisconsin is part of a nationwide effort by financial aid professionals to help prospective college students of all ages fill out and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA for the 2020-21 academic year. The federal government requires the FAFSA from all students seeking financial aid, including loans and grants, to help pay for college. Anyone from any state who is interested in attending any college or university can attend the free College Goal event at UW-Superior to get help filing their FAFSA. The following is needed to complete the FAFSA: • Social Security Number/Alien Registration Card/Permanent Resident Card • 2018 Federal Tax Return and W2’s • 2018 Untaxed Income Records, such as child support or veteran’s non-education benefits • Information on savings, investments, business assets and farm assets (if applicable) • Cell phone (if you have one) • Parent(s)’ date of birth • Month and year of parents’ marriage, divorce or separation • FSA ID (if you have one). Visit www.fsaid.ed.gov to create an FSA ID. For assistance with this process, please call 1-800-433-3243. Each student and one parent must create an FSA ID. It is highly recommended that a dependent student attend with their parent/guardian so the FAFSA can be submitted that evening.
